Trixie

Trixie is our dedicated 24-hour employee.  Her main job title is Office Boss, and she does it very well. I would highly recommend her for job training for any other feline looking to grow in their career.

Trixie’s day begins by greeting office staff, Alysia and Shawna at the door and guiding them to her cat tower. As any boss would do, she has selected the most elaborate of towers to showcase her status in the organization. Leopard print, five stories, with access to the sixth floor observatory that is our display shelf in the reception area.

As the humans go about their day-to-day tasks earning money for the organization and to keep Trixie feeling like the queen that she is, Trixie keeps herself busy. The humans recently moved her cat tower to the front of the office so that she can sit on the highest level and relax in the sun while she watches passerby and cars. She also has two window seats that put her at eye level with pedestrians. A group that walks children in daycare each day around 10:30 look for Trixie to be sitting in one of her perches so that they can wave to her. She loves it (she acts like it doesn’t phase her but I have caught her running to the window when she hears them in the past).

Next, it’s time for lap time with Shawna, our Membership Coordinator aka Trixie’s go-to personal assistant. For the next six hours, Trixie will be planted on Shawna’s lap, or atop her desk under Shawna’s desk lamp that gives off heat that Trixie loves.

In between lap time, playtime with paperclips, pens, rubberbands, and occasionally a cat toy ensues.

Occasionally Trixie will call office meetings with her peers: Atlas, a German Shepherd, and Boh, a Labrador mix. Alysia and Shawna will bring them in at Trixie’s request and they talk about important matters regarding the organization.

At the end of the day, the lights go out and Trixie rests. At some point in the evening she gets into a fight with the credit card machine and pushes it to the ground or against the wall out of her way. The table runner becomes a slip-n-slide. Toys are everywhere in the morning.

Trixie does amazing work and we wouldn’t trade her for the world. If a small office is able to have a cat, we highly recommend it! Cats are independent, but also very social and loving. Not to mention, when visitors come and see Trixie’s cat tower, they cannot wait to see Trixie. We wondered at first if this would be off-putting for new people, but so far, it has never been an issue and has only been a blessing.

her to brush her own face. Two treats (Temptations Chlorophyll-flavored) must follow.
